Top 5 Best Car Charger

Top 5 Best Smartphone Car Chargers

Whether your own an iPhone or an Android device, you probably wish you had better battery life. To extend your battery life throughout the day, you can use battery-boosting solutions like abattery case, or an portable battery/external phone charger. Of course, there’s another option: keeping a car charger in your work vehicle or personal car.

These types of chargers draw power from your car, so they don’t limit the charge you can give your device. That makes them a better option than battery cases or external chargers, which have a limited amount of juice they can give you before they die. Here are five of the best smartphone car chargers you can buy today. We’ll be featuring iPhone car chargers, as well as car chargers that will keep your Android phone fully charged during a long drive. Please note, while all prices listed were corrected on the date of publication, prices may fluctuate over time.

1. AmazonBasics 4.0 Amp Dual USB Car Charger for Apple and Android Devices

If you are low on cash, this inexpensive car charger is a great choice. The whole AmazonBasics line is designed to be inexpensive, but still provide solid performance. This charger is no exception. There are two 2.0 amp USB ports, which will allow you to quickly charge multiple devices at the same time. iOS, Android, and Amazon’s own Fire phone can be charged with this device. Both phones and tablets can be charged on the go. This car charger is under a one-year limited warranty.

  • Charges two devices at      once

  • Small, takes up very      little room on your console

  • Charges iOS, Android, and      even some GPS units

  • Easy to tell when power      is flowing through charger

  • Only under warranty for      one year

  • No built-in cables for      charging

  • Very thick third party      cables may make it hard to use both charging ports at the same time

  • Hard to disconnect

  • Some Android phones may      charge slowly

2. Belkin MIXIT Car Charger with USB Port (2.1 Amp Version)

Belkin has a diverse line of iPhone accessories, including Bluetooth speakers and earbuds. One nice accessory for the car is the MIXIT car charger. There are lots of colors to choose from, which is nice if you want to find a color that matches your device, or the interior of your car.

The MIXIT car charger has some nice perks, including its small size. It can fit easily in a purse or backpack, which makes it simple to transfer between your work car and your personal vehicle, or between your car and your significant other’s vehicle.

  • Multiple color options to      choose from

  • Small form factor

  • Respected brand

  • Available in 2.1 and 1      amp versions

  • Only under warranty for      one year

  • Charging cables sold      seperately

  • Only one charging port

  • Designed to work with      newer Apple mobile devices with a Lightning cable

  • Depending on placement of      your car’s port, removal can be tricky

3. Anker 40W 5-Port USB Car Charger with PowerIQ Technology

Need to keep your whole family happy on a long road trip? This multi-port car charger will let you charge five devices at once. Mom and Dad can keep their phones charged while running battery-draining. Meanwhile, the kids in the backseat can get enough power to keep their music and games going for hours.

A nice feature here is Anker’s PowerIQ Technology. Essentially, this charger is smart enough to know what device you’ve plugged into it, and adjust its charging parameters appropriately to give you the fastest, safest charge. Anker brags that one in three chargers sold on Amazon is an Anker product, which is a pretty impressive fact. Factor in their high customer review scores, and this is definitely a car charger you can feel secure about buying online.

  • 18-month warranty a bit      better than the 12-month warranty of other chargers

  • CE & FCC certified

  • PowerIQ Technology

  • Works with both official      and third party charging cables

  • Long enough to reach      people in the backseat

  • Does not come with an      integrated charging cable

  • Compatible with Apple and      Android smartphones/tablets, but not compatible with the following      devices: iPod nano, iPod Classic, HP TouchPad, Dell Venue 11 Pro, and Asus      tablets.

  • Limited color options

  • Cord that connects      connector to USB ports may get tangled up

4. Moshi Car Charger Duo With Lightning Cable

Moshi makes a number of smartphone accessories, including this car charger duo. If you own an iOS device, you know you can never have too many Lightning cables. The folks at Moshi sent us a sample of this car charger with Lightning cable, and we’ve been able to go hands-on with the product over the past few weeks. This charger worked as expected during our hands-on time, with charging being neither surprisingly fast or annoyingly slow compared to home charging with official Apple cables.

The perk of having an extra Lightning cable is twofold. First, you don’t have to remember to take your cable out of the car and into your house. Additionally, this cable is longer than an Apple cable, which makes it more convenient to use. One nice feature here is the advanced power management circuitry, which protects your device from overcharging. My favorite little thoughtful detail is the option to make the cable into a closed loop for storage, which protects the ends from accidental damage when stored in a messy car. If you want a car charger without paying for the additional Lightning cable, try Moshi’s Revolt Duo car charger.

  • Circuit design with      over-current and over-charge protection

  • Lightning cable connects      to itself, protecting the ends from damage when not in use

  • Cable is long enough to      reach people in the back seat

  • Charge two devices at      once

  • Limited color options

  • Somewhat more expensive      than other chargers on this list

  • Large families/work      carpool buddies may want more USB ports

  • Curled “phone-style cord”      can be hard to extend without feeling like you’re pulling too hard on the      charger

5. Incase Mini Car Charger with Integrated Lightning Connector

Incase makes this cool car charger for iPhone 6 users, though of course it also works for other iOS devices as well. The team at Incase sent us a sample of this car charger with integrated Lightning cable, and we’ve been able to go hands-on with the product over several weeks.

It performed as expected. I’ve had lots of car chargers over the years, and more than a few of them have charged really slowly. That was not the case here. If you like the idea of having a charger with a built-in Lightning connector, this is a solid choice. Do note that this only works with iOS devices with a Lightning connector. Devices with the older style of connector will not work.

Price: $24.95
